The following is based upon this article written by Shannon Travis, CNN.
In the past couple of weeks there have been several monumental events: Obama released his birth certificate, a Royal wedding, and the death of Osama Bin Laden. While the Royal wedding is basically insignificant the other two events have caused much stir and speculation in the American people. This article explains how recently, due to the death of Bin Laden, that the former "birthers" are now becoming the "deathers". First people didn’t believe that Obama was really born in the U.S. and now there are some who are not willing to accept Osama Bin Laden’s death, either. It seems that people are creating elaborate theories and conspiracies that simply don’t add up. Also, the author made sure to add while that rumors spread in the Middle East would be normal, the fact that there is such talk here in America is really surprising and almost disappointing.
Who: Obama and "deathers"
What: Many think that Osama Bin Laden's death is a conspiracy
When: In the past couple of days
Where: All over the country...?
Why: Skeptics question whether Osama bin Laden is actually dead and it seems quite pathetic.
This is journalism! Not only was the subject relevant to what is occurring in the news, it was also informative and helpful in discussing the Osama Bin Laden conspiracy theories. While it debunked how the skeptics think, it also helped me be able to form my own opinion on the situation.

Maybe some people need to have a revelation that Osama Bin Laden is actually dead and that Obama was actually born in the United States... okay, just kidding... but still, the government may have made mistakes in the past, yet it may be time to let go of that. I know that very conservative Republicans don't agree with Obama's policies, but the fact that they'd go as far as creating conspiracy theories is wrong. They need to learn to except the truth for what it is.
are you a birther or deather or neither?

ReplyDeleteOn the fact that people have been creating elaborate theories. When any controversial events happen, these kind of people pop up: 9/11, the assassination of JFK, the fall of the Soviet Union, etc. At each of these events thousands of people with theories pop up. It is a sort of attention grabber to try to fill the emptiness of their lives. It is common and will occur for eons to come.
ReplyDeleteThis is kind of funny. I agree with Nathan anytime anything major happens there will always be some degree of disbelief amongst people. I do think people that are always looking for something to not believe in are a bit extreme but it is never a bad idea to make sure an even is legitimate.
ReplyDeleteConspiracy theorists are just a part of life. The event doesn't have to be significant at all to get theories tagged on. I'm sure there will be plenty of theories about how the American Idol voting system is rigged after the finals. Not to say that all theories are false.
